PEOPLE across north Montgomeryshire witnessed a mystery ball of light in the night sky at 8pm on Monday.
The light was accompanied by brief roll of thunder before normality returned.
Social media reports confirmed villagers from across the area heard the sound and witnessed the sky being briefly lit.
Sandra Edwards said: "We heard a big bang in Forden."
Marlene Bishop added: "We heard a rumble over Castle Caereinion, thought it was thunder."
Jean Higgs Crowe said: "We heard something. It sounded like a big troop carrier going over."
It is thought the light and sound emanated from a passing meteor.
