Family doctors and their teams in Bishop's Castle have helped vaccinate their first care home since the roll-out began.

Bishop's Castle Medical Practice said it now hopes to start vaccinating more patients in the area "very soon".

Earlier today, Shropshire Council announced that Ludlow has been chosen for one of the county's vaccination centres. The centre will open in early February.

On Monday, a Bishop's Castle Medical Practice spokesperson said: "We are very pleased to confirm that we vaccinated our first care home at the weekend.

"We hope to be able to start vaccinating our general population very soon and will update you all as soon we can."

Patients have been asked not to phone the surgery for a coronavirus vaccine. "We will contact all eligible patients as soon as we are able to offer you a vaccination," a spokesperson added.

The practice provides healthcare for around 5,400 people living in Bishop's Castle, Long Mynd, Corndon, Clun Valley, Stiperstones and near the Welsh border.

It is also responsible for providing medical cover for the Bishop's Castle Community Hospital.
