A MAN with a long list of past offences of being drunk and disorderly has admitted two more.

Alan Newton, 56, arrived at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, January 13, to face one charge of being drunk and disorderly, but ended up admitting another.

The initial charge related to being drunk in the Station Crescent area of Llandrindod on November 9 last year.

But a look at the court files showed Newton, of Ffrydd House, St Edwards Close, Knighton, was due to appear before magistrates again next month for an offence committed in Knighton on December 17.

The cases were combined and Newton admitted both charges.

He told the court he had many similar cases recorded against him in the past but had could not remember much when he did drink and said he had little recollection of either incident – although he said he had been sober since the last offence.

Prosecutor Kevin Challinor said multiple police officers were called to deal with Newton on the first occasion after he was seen in a drunken state near Llandrindod station on the afternoon of November 9.

Of the second incident, Mr Challinor said Newton was again being disruptive in a public place, this time in Knighton, at around 2.30pm on December 17.

Acting in his own defence, Newton told magistrates: “I don’t recall much about it. You could say I had run up the street with no clothes on and I wouldn’t remember. I have been honest for a little while now. I haven’t been drunk this year at all.”

Newton was fined £80 for each incident.
