CASES of coronavirus are on the rise across Powys, figures produced by Public Health Wales show.

The Health Wales interactive map shows that Builth Wells, Llandrindod Wells and Machynlleth are among the areas with the fastest rising number of cases in Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire for cases per 100,000 people, on average, in the last three weeks.

But the rise in case numbers remains relatively low in other areas such as Knighton and Presteigne, and Kerry and Abermule.

The Public Health Wales map presents data broken down beyond the standard local authority areas and shows how individual communities compare.

The data is gathered using Office of National Statistics figures of middle layer super output areas (MSOAs) and present the rolling number of cases in either a seven-day or 21-day window.

Darker areas indicate higher concentrations of the virus whilst lighter areas show lower transmission rates. The map details state that case numbers are suppressed for any MSOA where there were fewer than three identified cases.

Above, we’ve taken a snapshot look at the latest available 21-day period leading up to January, 2.
