AS THE second coronavirus vaccine rolls out in Wales this week, a third mass vaccination site will now be created in Builth Wells.

The site, on the Royal Welsh Showground in neighbouring Llanelwedd, which is already acting as a mobile test centre location, is due to open in mid-January in addition to similar sites in Newtown and Bronllys.

PAVO (Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations) are now recruiting volunteers to help with the additional workload expected when Builth becomes Powys’ third mass vaccination centre.

They need ‘wayfinder marshals’, whose job it is to provide guidance and information to visitors at the entry points to enable them to follow signage and social distancing practices.

The centre will be open seven days a week from 8am to 8.30pm. Volunteers need to be able to offer a minimum of one to two-hour shifts at a time. Basic training and PPE will be provided.

Anyone able to support the mass-vaccination programme in Powys can register on powys.volunteering-wales.net (search for Powys mass vaccination wayfinder marshals). For more information, contact PAVO on 01597 822191 or email volunteering@pavo.org.uk
