A MOTORIST has been given six points on his licence after admitting driving almost twice the speed limit.

William Forrester, 26, appeared at Welshpool Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to speeding.

He was recorded doing 57 miles per hour in a Volkswagen Golf on Forden Road in Montgomery, on the afternoon of August 13.

Robert Hanratty, defending Forrester, of Hazel Court, Flint, Flintshire, said that his client was decelerating while on his way to Chirbury.

The farm manager was given six points on his driving licence by chair of the magistrates bench Dr Rachel Jones, and a £400 fine.

He will also pay £85 court costs and a £40 victim surcharge.
