A MAN has been remanded in custody on an attempted murder charge after an incident in Newtown last month.

At the end of November officers appealed for information after the alleged incident in the Lon Helyg area of Newtown.

Giving an update confirming the arrest and charging of a suspect, a Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: "The victim is well and was discharged from hospital within days of the incident.

"The suspect, Mark Andrews, aged 60, of Lon Helyg, Newtown, was charged with attempted murder on November 27.

"He appeared in Court on November 28 and was remanded in custody."
