NEWTOWN Football Club's festive programme has been upended following a positive COVID-19 case in squad.

The JD Cymru Premier club will now sit out much of December with their next three games postponed as players and coaches enter self isolation.

NHS Wales’ Test, Trace and Protect Service have informed the squad that faced Cardiff Metropolitan last week to self isolate until December 16.

A club spokesman said: "We have followed strict guidelines from the Welsh Government and the Football Association of Wales since the outbreak of the virus and will continue to do so as we now enter a period of isolation."

Tomorrow night's clash at home to Penybont and forthcoming derbies against Aberystwyth Town and TNS have been postponed.

The spokesman added: "The club have been in constant communication with the FAW and have notified all of the appropriate authorities.

"We would like to wish a speedy recovery to those affected, and we hope to be back soon."
