A PONTROBERT teenager has been fined and banned from the road after admitting to drug driving.

Callum Lloyd, of Lon yr Ywen, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, December 1.

Ceri Ellis-Jones, prosecuting, said Lloyd had been stopped by Police Constable Jones in Four Crosses while driving his Peugeot 107 on June 9.

A roadside drug swipe subsequently tested positive for cannabis, with 2.5 microgrammes per litre of blood. A forensic test found an amount of MDMA and cocaine that was below the legal limit.

Representing himself, Lloyd said he had learnt his lesson and knows the seriousness of the charge.

A letter from his employer was read aloud in court which said that Lloyd was “hardworking, reliable and dependable”.

Chair of the magistrates bench Dr Rachel Jones gave Lloyd a £120 fine and banned him from driving for 12 months. He will also pay £85 costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
