Powys Teaching Health Board is expecting to begin distributing the new Covid-19 vaccine early next week.
This morning, it was announced that the UK had become the first country in the world to approve the use of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine.
Further approval of other vaccines, including the AstraZeneca vaccine developed in the UK, could follow soon.
In Powys, a booking portal is being developed by Powys Teaching Health Board that will allow frontline health and care staff to access the vaccine from next week.
A spokesman said: "Powys Teaching Health Board has welcomed today's announcement and planning is well under way for the county's vaccination programme.
"A booking process is being launched which will target frontline health and care staff in the first instance, with the first vaccinations expected to take place early next week."
