A POLICE helicopter was called out to search for a man after reports of a male carrying a knife in Llandrindod Wells on Tuesday afternoon.

News started circulating on social media in the late afternoon of a hive of police activity in the lake and golf club area of Llandrindod – with alleged sightings of a man with a machete.

Dyfed Powys Police confirmed they responded to reports of a man with a knife and used the National Police Air Service helicopter in their search but that no-one was found.

In a statement, the force said: “We were called to reports of a male who may have been in possession of a knife near the lake in Llandrindod Wells at around 1.30pm.

“Officers searched the area, with support from the NPAS helicopter, however the male was not found.

“Enquiries are continuing, however there are no ongoing concerns.”
