Pupils in Years seven and nine at Llanidloes High School have been asked to self-isolate after a coronavirus case was confirmed at the school.

A letter has been sent out to parents and carers of pupils in those two years to inform them that children in those years have been identified as a contact of a confirmed Covid case.

It means that they will need to self-isolate for 14 days in order to prevent the virus from spreading further.

Children in those years will be asked to stay at home, not to go outdoors to exercise, visit shops, family or friends, or go to other public spaces.

The letter to parents, from headteacher Daniel Owen, reads: "NHS Wales Test, Trace Protect trace everyone who have been in contact with a person who has tested positive for Covid-19.

"Your child has been identified as a contact of a confirmed case of Covid-19 and will now need to self-isolate for 14 days from November 27."

Last month Welshpool High School was closed for two weeks in an attempt to limit the spread of the coronavirus, while Bishop's Castle also closed its secondary school because of the disease.
