A man is in hospital after a "serious assault" in Newtown.

Police cordons remain in place after the attack in the Lon Helyg area just before 2pm on Thursday, and specialist search officers are conducting enquiries.

A 60-year-old man arrested on suspicion of serious assault remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

The male victim remains in hospital.
