Newtown residents are being encouraged to get out on their doorsteps to watch a dazzling laser display that will light up the night sky as the town celebrates its first Christmas since the outbreak of coronavirus.
The event, organised by by Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council and Celf Your Health, promises to be a night to remember that will suit everyone of all ages.
It will take place at 7pm this Saturday, November 28, and can also be watched from the comfort of your sofa on the town council website - www.newtown.org
The festive extravaganza includes live acts from talented local performers and will be compered by Powys Theatre, NADS and Newtown Musical Theatre Company's Julie Jones and Gareth Woodhouse.
Julie said: “I am viewing some of the many videos that have arrived, and it really is an extravaganza of local people's joys, loves and passions.
"I am excited and proud to be a local and teaming up with Gareth to compere this event.”
Celf Your Health are encouraging people to watch the show and 'Make some Noise for Newtown' with pots and pans and chants and samba dancing. They also want residents to show off their homemade lanterns to light up the town. Competition prizes donated by some of the town's shops and businesses for the best lantern will be announced on the night.
