A Powys County Councillor is to stand as a candidate at next year’s Senedd elections.
Councillor Amanda Jenner, who represents the Trewern community, was announced as the Welsh Conservatives chosen candidate for Ceredigion on Monday, November 24.
Cllr Jenner said she was “so excited” to be named as a Senedd candidate for the constituency.
Ceredigion has been represented by Plaid Cymru’s Elin Jones since the first Senedd election, formerly known as the Welsh Assembly, in 1999.
Cllr Jenner said: “So excited to be standing as the Welsh Conservatives Senedd Candidate for Ceredigion.
“A constituency close to my heart and I'm really looking forward to campaigning here again. Diolch yn fawr Ceredigion Conservatives for selecting me!”
Massive congratulations, @CllrAmandaJ! 👏 https://t.co/dlHX7obcsR

This is the second time that Cllr Jenner will be representing the Conservatives on the ballot paper in Ceredigion. At last December’s General Election, the Aberystwyth University alumna came second, and ahead of the Liberal Democrats, with a 3.8 per cent increase in votes.
Ceredigion Conservatives said on Monday evening that they were “proud” to have chosen Cllr Jenner as their candidate.
“She is committed to Ceredigion and will have all the support of the Association behind them in next year's election,” they added.
The next elections for the Welsh Parliament are due to be held on May 6, 2021
