THE drive-through coronavirus testing facility in Builth Wells will reopen on Wednesday (November 4) following a refurbishment.

Powys Teaching Health Board announced the news via its Twitter account on Tuesday after the service had relocated to Brecon at the end of October.

There are two mass drive-through testing stations in Powys – in Brecon and Newtown. These testing centres are managed by the Department of Health and Social Care.

The local testing site in Builth will remain on the Royal Welsh Showground just outside town in Llanelwedd. This testing facility is run and staffed by Powys Teaching Health Board.

Slots here are prioritised for patients needing a test prior to an operation or procedure and general testing for residents of mid Powys.

To make an appointment at the Builth site, use the health board’s local booking system, which you can do by calling the Powys Testing Hub on 01874 612228 (9am-5pm Monday-Friday, 10am-3pm Saturday-Sunday). Alternatively, email Powys.testing@wales.nhs.uk.

You can also book a home test kit by applying online at https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or calling 119.

Powys Teaching Health Board also tweeted its apologies to Mid Wales residents after high winds forced the temporary closure of the Newtown testing unit last weekend. The weather affected the Newtown site on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
