STAFF and residents have tested positive for coronavirus at a Newtown nursing home.

Bethshan Care Home trustees have confirmed that despite extreme precautions and all necessary procedures being in place, a number of staff and residents have tested positive at the facility on Heol Treowen.

The Chair of Trustees, Rev Alan L Hewitt said: “Unfortunately, after being Covid-free for the past six months, our regular testing procedure has identified a number of staff and residents who have tested positive for coronavirus despite the extreme precautions and momentous efforts of the manager and staff.

"All the families of our residents have been informed and continue to receive regular updates of the well-being of their loved ones.

"The trustees are confident that all necessary procedures remain in place and are very grateful to the manager and staff for their exceptional services during this very challenging pandemic.”
