Llanidloes has launched its Poppy Appeal but this year due to the coronavirus outbreak it is doing things differently.

With some people unable to leave their homes as they normally would to find a poppy, and with many of the Royal British Legion's collectors unable to carry out face to face collections, a group of volunteers have helped launched the appeal in the town.

The Royal British Legion Women's Section of Llanidloes (RBLWSLl) is asking people to support the charity because "every poppy counts".

Trudy Davies, from RBLWSLl, said: "The Poppy Appeal has been organised by the town's British Legion for over 70 years and was hoping to build on the grand totals they have collected in previous years but due to restriction this year we will not be holding fundraisers in the town."

RBLWSLl is also urging veterans to contact them if they need help or support during the lockdown.

Poppies, grave crosses and other Royal British Legion merchandise can be bought from Woosnam & Davies newsagents and dropped off during delivery rounds.
