I READ with interest the report on the Powys Council decision concerning increasing council tax on second homes in the county as from March next year.

The comments of councillors at the meeting as reported in the County Times article made interesting reading and I am concerned that the people of Powys have representatives on the council with such prejudiced views and were making it obvious that second homes were treated as a “cash cow” for funding the council, and the council want the money and not the second home owners.

Please remember this when the council elections next take place.

We want to be represented by councillors who are unbiased and have the welfare of both residents and part-time residents at heart.

We should all be treated equally and the council tax should be fair and should not be loaded against a section of the residents of the county just because they are part-time residents.
