Two more popular events in Welshpool have been cancelled amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic – including the town's firework display.

The last 12 months have already seen the cancellation of a number of events, including the town's 10K race and the annual 1940s weekend.

Now the fireworks display has also been cancelled, along with the Winter Festival.

A statement from the town council read: "Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the council have made the decision not to have a Fireworks display this year.

"It would be too difficult to keep everyone safe via social distancing.

"The council have also decided to not go ahead with our annual Winter Festival. As this is such a popular event, there is no way to enforce social distancing and ensure everyone’s safety."
