Areas of Powys with the highest rates of new Covid cases have been revealed by Powys County Council.

Data shows where in the county coronavirus cases have been more prevalent in the last week.

Machynlleth, Ystradgynlais, Hay and Talgarth have the highest rates in Powys with more than 50 cases per 100,000.

Areas in the amber tier, which have between 25 and 49 cases per 100,000, include Newtown, Llanfair Caereinion, Llandrindod and Rhayader, Brecon and Crickhowell.

County Times:

Llanidloes is the only area in Powys with around 15 to 24 positive cases per 100,000.

In Welshpool and Montgomery, Llanfyllin, Builth and Llanwrtyd there are fewer than 15 positive cases per 100,000.

Currently Public Health Wales says it does not have the capacity to provide specific statistics for each sub-local authority area in Wales, but all local authorities do have the information to inform their individual strategies on tackling transmission.

The rate of positive cases in Powys during the last seven days is 43 per 100,000.
