WELSHPOOL High School will reopen on Tuesday after repairs to a burst pipe.

Powys County Council have confirmed the school closure on Monday was due to a "facilities failure".

The burst pipe also affected the Flash Leisure Centre next door which was also closed on Monday morning.

A spokesman for Welshpool High School confirmed that repairs were complete.

He said: "The repair to the water main is now complete and the school will be open on Tuesday, October 6. Thank you for your patience and support."

Earlier on Monday spokesman for the Flash Leisure Centre said: "The Flash has had to close this morning due to a burst water main in Welshpool.

"We will provide an update later this morning."

A spokesman for water company Hafren Dyfrdwy said: Customers in the area may find that they have no water or poor pressure this morning, this is due to a burst water pipe.

"We have engineers on site and we will get do everything we can to get the supplies back to normal as quickly as we can. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.

"Our team have been working hard to repair the burst water pipe in Welshpool.

"We hope to have the repair completed by 12pm, and will update you further then.

"Thank you for your patience as we work on this."
