NEW lockdown restrictions have left residents feeling 'scared', 'frustrated' and 'confused'.

As Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy get set to introduce new restrictions from 6pm on October 1, Leader readers were quick to say how confused the new guidance actually is.

Tommy Clarke said: "If we can meet up to 30 people outside and people in pubs then we should be allowed to go to friends/family households providing we wear face coverings. It's not fair people have suffered enough already."

Cynthia Roberts said: "It's absolutely bonkers, I think the people who are causing this upsurge again are primarily schoolkids and students. Have you seen all the gangs of schoolkids wandering together through Wrexham - and as for the students - who are older and should know better - they are all sitting together on the green outside the Guildhall. People in/around Wrexham shopping etc, the majority including myself are all wearing masks - shouldn't we be targeting the groups who are NOT social distancing and not everyone else too?

"The rules are ridiculous, I am unable to see my family and grandkids so I'll just have to see them at the pub?"

Claire Parry added: "I'm not even bothered about the lockdown, we probably need it, but the restrictions are stupid. We can't meet with family but we can go to the pub to meet family."

Concerns have been raised over loved ones not being able to meet in the safety of their own homes, but are able to in a public setting.

Susan Ridings said: "Until we can work together to all want a safe community, these rules are going to be broken, this virus is here to stay, everyone needs to try and stay safe and have realistic guidelines that we all believe in, to deprive people of meeting loved ones is very harmful."

Tanya Davies said: "I can fully understand having to protect the NHS, especially at this time of year.

"However this has been caused by groups of people mingling together and not keeping the 2 metre rule. Therefore I do not understand why individual small family bubbles are yet again being made to suffer, whilst people can still go to a pub, still go to a restaurant, still go shopping. Whilst they get to enjoy themselves, we are unable to spend quality time with vulnerable parents or our grand children.

"It makes more sense to me to close everything down for two weeks and see what the levels are then. Two weeks is certainly better than months of not seeing our loved ones."

Rhian Roberts added: "It's hardly a lockdown we are just again unable to see loved ones and travel outside the county. But can go sit in a pub that has all different households inside. Absolutely bonkers. Close the pubs, restaurants and the schools again."

Lyn Aston added: "People are just going to ignore the restrictions eventually, because it is illogical and contradictory. This virus is here to stay along with colds and flu. Governments need to concentrate on putting time, energy and financial resources into finding a vaccine and our NHS ASAP so they can be prepared for a very long and hard winter that is to come for many sad souls."

Delwyn Lewis Bates said: "We went into the first lockdown too late and came out of it too early. Now these lockdown measures make no sense and people are confused, so won't follow them."

However, many welcomed the Welsh Government's tactics to control the virus.

Marilyn Stevenson said: "The rules are ridiculous, but this is not about control, this is about protecting the NHS, more cases of the virus and the cold and flu season, which people do die from every year, can you imagine the hospitals coping with the amount of patients going in now, they can't cope in a normal situation. I think everyone has forgot about this and all the clapping we did on the beginning, this still stands, be sensible limit your contact and follow the rules, you don't have to have symptoms with the virus. My mum died with no symptoms, no temperature, my sister died with every symptom going, just be sensible."

Margaret Barker said: "I must admit I do feel a little hard done by. If I lived in any of the other counties I would have a lot more choice of where I could go and still keep away from people. Wrexham seems very small this morning. I'll still do my bit though, we all just have to suck it up.

Debbie Gallagher added: "I think these local lock downs are trials and they are better than full lock down, give them a chance, it's been trial and error since March, I don't want a full lockdown, let's just see if it makes a difference, stay safe and follow the rules, shops, pubs gyms, etc still open let's at least try and keep it that way."
