It WAS another triple winning weekend for Whitchurch as all three sides claimed victory.

The first XI, competing in the Shropshire Cricket League Premier Division Mike Robinson Group, took the plaudits at home to fellow north Shropshire side Frankton on Saturday.

Batting first, an outstanding century from Iftikhar Khan set the platform for the win as he smashed the visiting attack to all parts with a superb 106 from 99 balls, with 15 fours and three sixes.

He shared a 166-run second wicket partnership with Andy Jones, who scored 67 as Whitchurch finished 231-56 from 40 overs.

In reply, Frankton gave the home side a scare when they built a first-wicket stand of 74 but Ijaz Yousaf dismissed both men as the visitors were dismissed for 158.

Meanwhile, in the reverse fixture at Hardwick Park, Whitchurch’s second XI picked a solid win as Eddie Lewis scored a superb 133, also from 99 balls, with 16 fours and two sixes.

Hi side posted 266-8 from their allotted overs.

In reply, Frankton’s second string were dismissed for 112 with three wickets apiece for Jack Batkin and Sam Appleby.

There was also a victory for the third XI on Sunday as they Knockin & Kinnerley’s fourth team by 92 runs, with David Brunyard starring with 82 and three wickets.
