THE winner of Welshpool Town Council’s lockdown art competition has been announced.

Idris Wood has won the competition with this portrait which took place over the summer.

A spokesman for Welshpool Town Council said: “Congratulations to Idris Wood, the winner of our Welshpool Lockdown Art Competition.

“Thank you to all those who entered, it was lovely to see so many entries.”

Another competition which was run by the town council also come to a close at the end of August.

In conjunction with illuminations company Blachere, the challenge to the town’s youngsters was to design a Christmas light.

The competition closed for entries at the end of August.

A winner will be selected from age categories four to six, seven to nine and 10 to 11 years old, before the mayor of Welshpool, councillor Steve Kaye chooses the overall winners and runners-up.

The winning picture will be turned into a Christmas light, which will be revealed at the end of November at the town’s winter festival, while the runners-up will see their designs included on the posters for the winter festival.
