VOLUNTEERS from around the town have helped transform Builth Wells’ cenotaph into a beautiful new memorial garden.

Builth Wells Town Council had organised the initiative with the area adjacent to The Groe a hive of activity over the last few weekends as it underwent a transformation.

In a post on its Facebook page, the town council said: “What a difference to the memorial garden, it seems to have doubled in size.

“The town council would like thank all the volunteers who have turned out to help paint the railings and remove dead shrubs and trees. Everyone has worked so hard.

“Special thanks to the Strand Cafe for supplying much-needed coffee and sandwiches, as well as Cllr Prynne for the fabulous Welsh cakes, Cllr Pugh for the coffee first thing, and S Jones for the loan of the digger which helped enormously and we wouldn’t have been able to get so much done without it.

“As always we are very lucky to have the mayor and deputy mayor, Cllrs Davies and Waller, who always go that extra mile along with Cllrs Goodwin, Walters, Mavin and Hammond.

“Thank you all for all the hard work you have put in.”
