A MAN hit speeds of up to 120 miles per hour as he evaded police travelling through Caersws.
Ryan Andrew Tonks, 22, appeared at Welshpool Magistrates Court where he admitted to dangerous driving, drug driving, having no licence or insurance, possession of cannabis and assaulting a police officer.
Helen Tench, prosecuting, told the magistrates that one of the features of the case was that Tonks “rammed” a police car as he tried to evade the officer on the A489 in July.
She added that the case should be sent up to the crown court for sentencing, and Tonks, of Pensnett, Dudley, West Midlands, be made subject to an interim driving ban until then.
Richard Hull, defending, had no objections, but added that as Tonks had similar matters in Worcestershire Crown Court at the end of the month, sentencing might be moved there rather than Mold Crown Court.
Chair of the magistrates bench Nerys Jones sent to the case to Mold Crown Court for October 1, and handed Tonks an interim driving ban.
