More than 100 people have been tested for coronavirus on the first day that a mobile centre opened in Welshpool.
The pop-up testing site is based at Neuadd Maldwyn for the next three days after a small number of positive cases were confirmed in the area. The unit also aims at making it easier for local people to get tested.
Between 8am and 2.45pm on Friday (September 4) 133 people had been tested at the mobile centre.
There have been 58 positive cases in the town since February.
Powys County Council said there is "no expectation" of any lockdown measures being introduced, adding that "there is no evidence for this being necessary at the present time".
The council spokesperson added: "The total number of cases is relatively low, but there have been periodic increases in cases so we felt that it would be helpful to offer testing locally for a period so that anyone with symptoms has the opportunity to access testing through a more local route.
"We will then review the results and take a view whether more local pop-up testing would be helpful to residents in the future".
The testing centre will be open on Friday and Saturday from 8am to 6pm and on Sunday from 10am to 1pm. No booking is needed.
Residents from Welshpool and the surrounding area are being urged to come forward for testing if they think they have symptoms.
