A 22-year-old Paris-based singer and songwriter from Powys has released her debut album.

Kitty (right), from Pant-y-dwr, near Rhayader, released her pop album ‘The Dark Age’ earlier this week (August 17).

She said: “So far I’ve had very generous support from BBC Introducing on these tracks, who have called my sound ‘unique and exciting.’

“I have been writing songs ever since I first put a pen to paper and there is nothing more that I love to do than finding the perfect words or top-line melody to a song.”

Her songs have been played on BBC radio and French radio stations and her past work as a ghost songwriter have premiered on Billboard.

Kitty, whose singing-style has been compared to chart toppers such as Lana Del Rey and Lorde, was invited to perform live on BBC radio in March this year.

On her debut album, Kitty collaborated with Dutch producer Daniel de Boij, Dejan Visser as well as flamenco guitarist Liron Dan, who features on the song Angeleno.

The mid Wales raised musician began her journey into the world of pop four years ago with her debut single ‘Monaco’ which earned her a “small but fierce cult-like following” which continues to support her musical work.

She has since gone on to self-release her EP ‘Bedroom Pop’, an ode to the DIY musician entirely produced, written and recorded from a bedroom.

Kitty has amassed more than 182,000 streams on Soundcloud, YouTube, and Spotify.
