A POEM about a Llanidloes grandfather longing to see his two-year-old granddaughter during the coronavirus lockdown is to be published in a book to mark a new National Eisteddfod project.
Crowned bard Penri Roberts is among several acclaimed Welsh poets to have revisited their original winning National Eisteddfod poems and composed a new poem for today.
The poem, named after his two-year-old granddaughter, Ina, is part of AmGen, an alternative online Eisteddfod.
Mr Roberts said: “For about 18 months we have been looking after our little granddaughter Ina for at least two days a week but then came the lockdown period brought this to an end for a time, and the poem reflects the anguish of losing her during this time and the joy of seeing her again.”
