A LOCAL charity set up in memory of a Flint teenager has celebrated its third year of raising funds.

Giddo's Gift has raised over £160,200 over the last three years to help young people battling cancer.

Jordan Giddins, known as Giddo, was diagnosed in November 2015 with Ewings Sarcoma, which was a secondary cancer due to all of his previous treatment.

The disease is a rare type of cancer that affects bones and mainly affects children and young people. He died at the age of 18 in 2016.

The Giddo's Gift charity was set up in memory of Jordan Giddins, known as Giddo, and aims to help other teenagers and young adults going through similar battles.

Mum Mandy took to social media to celebrate the milestone.

She said: "Last night all the trustees got together to raise a glass to three years of Giddo’s Gift.

"We went to a local pub/ restaurant and three of Jord's closest friends were also there which was lovely especially as one had just had a special memorial tattoo for Jord which was amazing.

"Seeing his friends is always bittersweet as when I look at them I can see Jord with them laughing and joking.

"Our lives just seem to get harder without him. The Charity is one of the things that keeps me going. Jord would be so proud of what we have achieved in the last three years despite our hearts being broken.

"We have raised an absolutely amazing amount of £160,253

"Our very first wish was granted 01/05/18 and since then we have awarded 36 wishes, 40 financial grants and 13 bereavement grants. We have also given £24,000 to aid research into Childhood Cancer.

"The support we receive is fantastic and without this support we would not have achieved so much.

"A huge thank you for all your support and for allowing us to keep Jordan’s memory alive and help so many young people battling cancer."
