Prime Minister Boris Johnson paid a visit to a working family farm in Powys on Tuesday.

He began his visit to the Fedw Equestrian Centre, near Brecon by laying an engraved plaque 'Coeden Boris' at the base of a birch tree in the Memorial Garden.

Secretary of State for Wales Simon Hart MP, Conservative party co-chairperson Amanda Milling MP and Brecon and Radnorshire MP Fay Jones also joined Mr Johnson's visit near the Brecon Beacons National Park.

"It was brilliant to be in Wales today, speaking to Conservative Party members about the strength of the union and our plans to level up across every corner of the United Kingdom," the Prime Minister said.

"Throughout this pandemic we have worked together to fight the virus as one strong United Kingdom, supporting people's jobs across Wales, running mobile testing sites and providing the Welsh Government with £2.8 billion additional funding to tackle coronavirus. And we will continue to work together as we build back better, unleashing opportunity across the whole country.”

Ms Jones said she was "delighted" to welcome the Prime Minister back to Powys.

"It was a pleasure to welcome the Prime Minister to Brecon and Radnorshire to see the positive impact UK Government support has had on local, rural businesses such as the Fedw Equestrian Centre.

"As we recover from Covid-19, it is vital that the rural economy is not left behind".

The hill farm is owned by the Workman family, Sam, Will, Rhodri, Geraint and Gwilym, and over the years, has diversified to include an Equestrian Centre, an Equine Retirement Home and a Memorial Garden.

The Prime Minister then assisted Rhodri Workman shoe one of the many horses kept on the farm, before touring the indoor menage.

In the menage, the Prime Minister was treated to a local Pony Club demonstration by the children led by Ruth Gladman overseen by local vet, Liz Davies.

This was followed by a show jumping demonstration in the outdoor arena by Rhodri's partner, Ffion Hemmings.

Ms Jones added: "Fedw Equestrian Centre has had a rough ride over the past few months, with the Welsh Government not allowing them to reopen the indoor menage.  Support from the UK Government has been a lifeline  – allowing them not only to stay afloat, but to plan and invest in the future of their business.

“I am impressed with the social distancing measures in place at Fedw Equestrian Centre and delighted that they have now been allowed to reopen. I would encourage visitors and locals alike to visit and support the centre safely, and I very much hope they enjoy the excellent facilities as much as the Prime Minister has today.”

Conservative co-chairperson party Amanda Milling also paid a visit to Newtown on Tuesday. She was seen talking to residents and business owners in the town centre with Montgomeryshire MP Craig Williams and Russell George MS.

Ms Milling said: "It was fantastic to join the Prime Minister and Simon Hart today to speak to Conservative Party members across Wales.

"With a failing Welsh Labour Government next year’s election provides people in Wales the chance to vote for change in the Welsh Parliament by voting for the Conservatives.

"From my tour of our blue wall seats in Wales it’s clear to see that people here are benefitting from the Conservatives getting Brexit done, cutting taxes for over 1.4 million people and putting more police officers on the streets of Wales.

"Wales is a fantastic part of our United Kingdom and key to our plans to level up the entire country."

Earlier on Tuesday, Mr Johnson visited Hereford County Hospital to launch a new NHS funding scheme.
