JONES PRICE LIMITED, Mold

Started in the 1930s by Frank Price and Percy Jones, family-run wholesale greengrocers Jones Price and Sons became one of the largest and most respected wholesalers in North Wales.

Eighty six years later, the business is supplying hotels, restaurants, shops, schools, nursing homes, cafes, office canteens and farm shops, with several shops in the retail sector.

Tracey Hayden, business development manager at Jones Price Limited, said: “Our main business is supplying top quality fruit, veg, dairy, prepared produce and sundries to the catering industry.

“We are also open to the public Monday to Friday, from 6.30am-12.30, offering home delivery, click and collect or pick your own.”

Some services arose when, like every other business, Jones Price Limited had to adapt to a new way of doing things as a result of the coronavirus pandemic but proving a success, some will stay in place, including domestic deliveries and opening the warehouse to the public.

Tracey added: “During lockdown earlier this year we were thrown into a completely different way of working, by offering home deliveries to the general public.

“We’ve had many strange requests for items, ranging from bird seed, compost and flowers to bacon, sausages and washing powder.

“But even though it’s been a difficult time we have met some wonderful people and it’s been a pleasure helping out the community.”

And that sense of community has always been at the heart of Jones Price Limited.

Tracey said: “There have been many memorable moments throughout the 86 years of trading. We have met many fantastic people.

“For many years we have supported the North West Cancer Research, and a very proud moment was in September 2018, when we were awarded a certificate for Highly Commended in the category of Corporate Supporter.

“We are also proud of the fact that we have reduced our packaging by 90 per cent this year.”

Despite being situated just out of town, Tracey was keen for Jones Price Limited to become a regular stop for shoppers, saying “we want to make people aware that we are here”.
