Bird hides at a nature reserve outside Newtown have been vandalised.

The Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust has reported the "antisocial behaviour" at Pwll Penarth to the police.

"For reasons only known to themselves, vandals have trashed the bird hides at Pwll Penarth.

"Please let us know if you see anything else on site. We are a small charity and cannot afford to feed this habit," the trust said.

The nature reserve in Llanllwchaiarn is home to almost 100 birds.

Ecologist Phil Evans said on Twitter: "The Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust now has to take funds away from vital conservation work to repair the damage."
