A fundraising group battled the elements to conquer more than 500,000 steps to raise money for charity.

The Llandrindod Ladies Circle decided to set themselves a lockdown challenge to complete 250,000 over five days as part of the Steps for Jo challenge by Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.

The trust looks to raise awareness of cervical cancer, its causes and how to prevent it, as well as offering support and advice.

Starting on Monday, June 15, current and past members of the Ladies Circle set out on their challenge.

The ladies who took part smashed their initial target of 250,000 steps just two days after starting the challenge.

“We re-evaluated and decided to double our target to 500,000 which we knew would push us as most of us were working from home or had little ones to look after - and the weather was not ideal,” said Ladies Circle member Angharad Gough.

“We smashed our target and got a massive 584,506 steps in between us. We also raised £262 for Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, which was again double our original target of £100.”

Llandrindod Ladies Circle is a group of women aged 18-45 who meet up - currently via zoom - twice a month to socialise, have fun and fundraise.

The group also play a large part in Llandrindod Carnival and support Llandrindod Round Table in the Santa Float at Christmas time.

New members are always welcome, find the group on Facebook ‘Llandrindod Ladies Circle’.
