FIREFIGHTERS in Oswestry were called to a number of reports of flooding in the town on Tuesday.

With heavy storms landing over north Shropshire on Tuesday afternoon, one crew from the town was sent to Oswald Road shortly before 5.50pm to pump water out of basement properties that were affecting the electrics.

They were also called out to similar issue in Park Avenue around 10 minutes later, with all three properties needing water pumping out.

Oswestry firefighter James Lewis, who attended the scene, tweeted: "After the heavy downpour earlier this evening P4,W4 andS2 attended three calls in quick succession – flooding affecting electrics.

"Crews assisting at domestic properties also pumping out water in basements of all three properties using light portable pump."

Meanwhile, the Met Office has issued another yellow warning for thunderstorms for across north Shropshire, and for most of the UK too.

Thunder and lightning plus heavy rain is expected in the region from around 5pm on Wednesday.
