AN INQUEST into the death of a 94-year-old former steelworker and coal miner who died of coronavirus has been opened and adjourned.
William Bodman died at the Ynsysddu Care Home in Ynysddu on Tuesday, April 14, a hearing at Gwent Coroner's Court in Newport was told.
Mr Bodman also had pneumoconiosis, a lung disease common among former miners - and Senior Coroner for Gwent Caroline Saunders said he had been compensated during his life following an industrial disease claim related to mining.
As industrial disease appeared to be involved too, Ms Saunders adjourned for a full inquest hearing, which will take place on April 27 next year.
