TWO Mid Wales League clubs have been struck by vandals this week.

Bow Street Football Club and Borth United Football both took to social media to share their dismay after their grounds suffered damage.

A statement from Bow Street read: "We are at a loss to explain the senseless acts of vandalism carried out at Cae Piod.

"Several seats in the main Emlyn Rees stand have been smashed sometime between the weekend and Tuesday.

"The club finds this incident deeply upsetting at a point where players, junior members, officials and the wider community are pulling together to complete our 'Round the World Challenge' to raise money for local causes during this unprecedented period due to the pandemic.

"The club prides itself on having first class facilities for the community to enjoy and will now have to repair the damage at a time when resources are limited and fundraising activities hampered.

"The police have been informed and enquiries are being made to identify the individuals responsible based on CCT evidence.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact the police directly or club officials."

Meanwhile officials at Borth United Football Club have hit out after Uppingham Field was vandalised.

A statement read: "The club is appalled to see that the stand has been vandalised.

"A fire has been set using a disposable barbecue with bottles everywhere. Wood from the club's materials has been used for the fire as well.

"There seems to be a theme of people vandalising local football clubs right now.

"Clubs are struggling financially most seasons but even more so due to the current pandemic and unacceptable behaviour like this.

"If anyone witnessed people going to the pitch please get in touch."
