ENVIRONMENTAL and civil enforcement operations will be re-introduced next month.

Denbighshire County Council's enforcement activity, which includes fines for dog fouling and littering, as well as on street parking enforcement, was suspended when lockdown restrictions were introduced on March 23.

Enforcement operations will be reintroduced gradually from June 1.

Environmental enforcement is undertaken on behalf of the council by District Enforcement.

The company will carry out a full risk assessment for their staff, all who will be operating within social distancing guidelines and standard operating procedures.

Patrols will initially take place in areas the council has received recent complaints.

Cllr Mark Young, Denbighshire County Council’s Lead Member for Planning, Public Protection and Safer Communities, said: “I would like to reassure residents that the safety of the public and staff is of paramount importance when reintroducing these services.

“These enforcement activities will restart gradually and the council will react to changes to lockdown measures to ensure a gradual transition back to full service.

“The council would like to thank residents for their patience during this time.”

District Enforcement replaced Kingdom Security after the company 'quit' the county in summer 2018 following complaints from the public and councillors over the behaviour of its staff.

On street parking enforcement is also being reintroduced to ensure the safe movement of traffic.

Parking at Denbighshire County Council-owned car parks remains free during the coronavirus outbreak.

Enforcement for on street parking only will begin on June 1. Officers will be operating within social distancing guidelines.

A spokesperson from Denbighshire County Council said: "Long stay and beach parking permits are still suspended, but customers with resident permits will need to renew these as usual by phoning customer services on 01824 706000."
