CREWS from all over mid and north Wales are continuing to tackle a wild fire near Machynlleth, which has been burning for 24 hours and is still to be extinguished.
The blaze began on Sunday afternoon and today (Monday), firefighters are still at the scene.
A spokesman for the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service are currently in attendance of a wildfire near Llyn Conach, Furnace, Ceredigion.
"The fire service was first called to the incident on Sunday, May 17 at 2.26pm.
"Crews from Aberystwyth, Machynlleth, Llandrindod Wells and Llanfair Caereinion, along with a crew from Aberdovey (North Wales Fire and Rescue Service) have attended the incident.
"Approximately 64 hectares of grass, scrubland and forestry has been destroyed by the fire.
"Crews have the fire using beaters, backpack sprayers, wildfire blowers, an otter pump and delivery hose. A helicopter has also been deployed to assist the Fire Service."
The incident is currently ongoing.
On Sunday, social media users reported smelling smoke as far away as Welshpool.
