A MAN was arrested by police in the Midlands after a high-speed chase involving speeds of up to 140mph from Llanidloes on Saturday night.
Officers from Dyfed Powys were suspicious of occupants of a car with a strong smell of cannabis in the early evening, but when a police constable went to investigate, the car drove off.
The driver, who used back roads to evade capture – according to police – was chased by officers from West Mercia Police's Shropshire Operational Patrol Unit before they were eventually stopped on the M6 by West Midlands Police after hitting speeds of 140mph.
They were evenutally caught in Walsall by officers from the Central Motorway Police Group, who used a 'stinger' to stop them and they were arrested on suspicion of drug driving and failure to stop.
This stolen vehicle failed to stop for our colleagues from @NWPRPU & @OPShropshire, it was reaching speeds of 130mph and had travelled over 50miles onto @CMPG area. With the help of @Trafficwmp we stung 🦔🦔 the vehicle. The driver was arrested for a number of offences. #teamwork pic.twitter.com/CvW0e9YHHS
