The Charlies store outside Welshpool, Coed-y-Dinas, will reopen on Monday, May 18, the first of the company's outlets to do so.

Writing on Facebook, the home, garden and outdoors store said: “Following last week’s announcement we’re hard at work on a plan for reopening our larger Welsh stores safely and fully in line with government guidance

“Our absolute number one priority has always been the well-being of our customers and teams, so although we would be allowed to open from Monday, May 11 we will not be rushing to do this. We must do this the right way.

“Our Coed-y-Dinas site in Welshpool will be the first to reopen on Monday, May 18, and we hope the rest will follow that week.”

The announcement on the store’s page added: “Please watch this space as over the coming days we’ll be updating you on the plan and also the strict social distancing measures we’ll be putting in place to ensure a safe environment for those who need to stock up on their supplies.

“Thank you very much for your understanding, support and loyalty throughout this crazy time.”
