People in Wales are "anxious about the spread of the virus", the First Minister has said, after being asked about the signs that have been put up in the Dyfi Valley urging visitors to stay away.

In answering a question from the County Times at the Welsh Government's daily briefing, Mark Drakeford said: "Of course we want people to come to Wales and to welcome them here again but local people are anxious about the spread of the virus in communities that have managed so far have very low levels of the spread."

This comes after what appears to be spike of people travelling into Wales from England after Boris Johnson announced that people could travel for exercise. However, this doesn't apply for Wales, with lockdown restrictions being devolved.

"People who live in England are our friends and our neighbours, and for many of us, our families as well. Our message to them is simply visit Wales, but do it later," Mr Drakeford said.

He said he would like to reinforce that now is not that time for them to come to Wales. But when it is safe to, and the laws change, "we will be very pleased to see you," the First Minister said.
