An artist from Llandrindod Wells has created a banner, which has been put on display in the centre of the town, to pay tribute to local key workers.

Tara Rebecca Simmons owns a business called Tara Rebecca Art, where she creates personalised cartoons for people; mostly for things like birthdays and anniversaries. Now, she's taken her hand to drawing local key workers.

"I really wanted to create a key worker picture just to say thank you to the wonderful people who are working extremely hard and keeping us going," Tara said.

County Times:

"I put a post up on my page for any of my followers to nominate any key workers that they were proud of. I had over 100 nominations, which I then put into a name generator and these 31 people were picked.

"We have a range of wonderful key workers, from a shop assistant in a supermarket, to a carer looking after our elderly, to a midwife delivering babies in this scary time for expectant mothers and fathers alike," she said.

Most of the key workers who have been turned into cartoons are local, being from Llandrindod and Builth. There's also a couple from Cardiff and Aberystwyth.

"I'm so proud of this picture, along with all the people that were more than happy to be a part of it," said Tara, who spent 32 hours drawing on her iPad to create the artwork.

She decided she wanted it to be displayed in town, so she posted about it on Llandrindod Solutions. Before she knew it John Knill from Knillco offered to make the banner for free.

It's now been put up in the centre of town as of this morning (Tuesday, May 12) with the help of Kev Martin from KDM Local Newsagents.
