A CHURCH has seen an attendance increase after taking services online during the coronavirus crisis.

All Saints Anglican Church in Wales, in Newtown has seen an increase in the congregation.

Reverend Nia Wyn Morris said: “On a normal Sunday I have 80 to 90 people including children at church between All Saints and Llanllwchaiarn. On Easter Sunday I guess I would see 120 to 130. A service was recorded and was available for Easter Sunday which to date has had 621 hits – that may mean a congregation of over a 1,000 with more than one person sharing the screen.

“I posted on Facebook that I was placing a prayer tree at church and if anyone wanted me to place a prayer for them I would write the words on a card and place it on the tree.

“It had over 1,400 hits in less than 24 hours and the prayers are coming in – by people of faith and some of no faith. It currently stands at 1,600.

“Since then the Easter viewing is up to over 750 views with this last Sunday standing at present at over 420

“The Prayer Tree now called the rainbow Prayer Tree has attracted almost 1,800 views. Children are busy preparing rainbow prayer cards.”
