Llanwrtyd Wells’ weird and wonderful World Alternative Games and World Bog Snorkelling Championship are the latest events to announce that they will not go ahead this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 35th annual World Bog Snorkelling Championships – which Lonely Planet described as one of the top 50 “must do” events from around the world – was planned for August 30.
Participants from around the world were expected to take part in one of the UK’s quirkiest competitive events.
Now the World Alternative Games announced that the much-loved event will be postponed until August 2021.
“Obviously, it is extremely disappointing because we so much look forward to hosting our events, and welcoming lots of people to Llanwrtyd Wells,” the organisers said. “We will be posting more details and lots of information as we go along and can’t wait to welcome you back to our town.
“For now, stay safe and well, take care, and thank you for all your interest and enthusiasm for the World Alternative Games.”
