It’s time to talk about the birds and the bees – and maybe the frogs while we are at it as well.

No, we’re not having ‘that’ conversation, we really are talking about these wonderful, precise pictures of birds and bees captured in all their glory around Mid Wales.

Our Powys County Times Camera Club members have excelled themselves once again with this glorious look at nature’s winged wonders.

Three shots this week come from one of our prolific members, wildlife photographer Sean Weekly, and the picture of a common frog alone demonstrates just how skilled Sean is with a lens in his hand.

He also shot the tawny owl, seen clutching its dinner in its talons, as well as the long, evocative picture in the Elan Valley.

But he wasn’t alone in capturing the wildlife all around us.

We’ve seen a number of wonderful pictures of insect life that can be seen zipping back and forth across our gardens in recent weeks, and Cheryl’s Whittingham’s is a lovely example, capturing a bee hard at work in close-up detail.

And Roisin Boland’s picture of a humble lady blackbird captures in glorious detail a creature we see every day.

You too can get involved with our camera club.
