The Lloyds Bank in Presteigne, which has been temporarily closed because of coronavirus, will open for a few hours on Firday (April 17) for essential banking only.

The branch, which is the only bank left in Presteigne, will open from 10am to 2pm.

There will be a one in one out system and people will need to adhere to social distancing rules at all times.

"But at least people can access the bank," said Presteigne County Councillor Beverley Baynham.

Cllr Baynham said that the temporary closure of Lloyds had left the "whole patch or rural eastern Powys" without a bank - with neighbouring Knighton not having any of its own bank branches left.
