WHILE the coronavirus crisis is keeping everyone trapped at home, making life especially tough for children and their families, it can feel like there is not much to look forward to.

But these brilliant pictures, taken by Stuart Trigg of Dragon UAV Digital Media, before the national lockdown, show that there is plenty for youngsters in Newtown to look forward to when life gets back to normal.

The town's new play park and BMX Pump track, joint projects courtesy of Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council, and the National Lottery Community Fund.

Construction of the BMX track, near to Newtown AFC's Latham Park ground, includes berms, switch backs, jumps, tables, a competition starting point and viewing platforms.

It also has a tarmac finish, for multi-use small wheeled vehicles.

The plan is to use the tracks for leisure, coaching and competitions. The facilities will be gated bike access and controlled outside of sociable ‘opening hours’.

Located in the town centre, the play par will offer an experience for a range of ages and abilities including the opportunity to learn, interact, imagine and play together.

A separate toddler play area is being located behind the existing Radio Hafren building and a junior play area adjacent to the miniature railway track.
