Police continued to control Powys this weekend as restrictions on public movement under the new coronavirus rules were tightened.

While there have been no reports of a lot of people heading for the countryside, police have continued to spot isolated incidents of people flouting the restrictions.

In one instance, police in Welshpool found three people making bicycle jumps in Bron y Buckley Wood.

One officer tweeted: "Three males issued #Covid_19 penalty notices this evening for congregating in bronybuckley woods in #Welshpool for no good reason other than making bicycle jumps."

In Newtown on Sunday night, police issued an enforcement notice against one driver who had tried to escape them, who also tested positive for drug driving.

The Llanidloes Neighbourhood Policing Team reported officers being out in Caersws after local people reported a high volume of traffic heading through the town.

Breconshire Police also announced on Friday that three youths had been caught setting a fire in Brecon.

And five people were given fixed penalties after reports of a suspicious vehicle in the Llanfair Caereinion area on Friday night.
